Overwatch 2 Season 2 update: New battle pass, hero, map, and more
Winter is coming!
The release of Overwatch 2 Season 2 on December 6, 2022, will bring a plethora of fresh in-game additions, such as the new tank Ramattra, the new Escort map Shambali Monastery, and the season’s Greek Mythology theme, and also everyone’s favorite Twitch drops.
All new things coming in Overwatch 2 Season 2 update
1. New Tank – Ramattra
Ramattra emerges as the newest Hero in Overwatch 2. Ramattra is the first Tank who can completely transform into a different form as part of his core equipment, changing his abilities and playstyle on the fly as a nod to his revolutionary goals.

2. New Escort map – Shambali Monastery
Ascend the winding path taken by countless Omnics who have sought safety inside its walls in our brand-new Escort map, Shambali Monastery. Transcend your adversaries in a conflict for control of the former residence of Zenyatta and Ramattra.
3. New map pool
A new map pool corresponds to a new season. Players can look forward to the return of a fan favourite, Rialto, and the most epic location on earth, Blizzard World, along with our newest map, Shambali Monastery. The game will also alternate between Hollywood and Watchpoint: Gibraltar, as well as visit Oasis and Nepal at various times during the day. Please note, in custom games, all off-rotation maps will remain accessible.
4. Overwatch 2 Season 2 Battle Pass
Greek mythology is the Overwatch 2 season 2 battle pass theme. Zeus Junker Queen, a brand-new Mythic skin, is the premium battle pass’s ultimate reward for the second season. New customizations, weapon models, voice lines, and special effects will be added to her skin. Gain access to Legendary Poseidon Ramattra and Legendary Hades Pharah by advancing through the premium battle pass and basking in the glory of her fellow gods.
5. Limited-time game mode – Battle for Olympus
In the brand-new Battle for Olympus game mode, these heroes and a number of others will be endowed with awesome god-like abilities. Beginning on January 5 and concluding on January 19, this brand-new, brief event will take place. Watch for the skins that appear this season.
6. Seasonal events
The Winter Wonderland event, which runs from December 13 through January 4, and the Lunar New Year event, which runs from January 17 through February 1, are both returning, both with new and improved rewards. The skins for this season’s events, such as Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and Legendary Kkachi Echo, can be obtained by participating in the games and completing challenges.
By following your preferred Overwatch 2 streamers on Twitch, you can earn even more Season 2 goodies. This season, keep an eye out for additional Twitch drops and a Legendary Ramattra skin!
7. Catch-up challenges for the new players
For players to earn new heroes they have not yet unlocked, Overwatch 2 will be introducing new challenges in Season 2.
By selecting the Challenge for the hero they want to unlock – which sends you into the Practice Range to learn their abilities and ultimately challenges you to win Overwatch matches, players who missed out on unlocking Kiriko in Season 1 or brand-new players starting in Season 2 can unlock new heroes.
You have the option to directly unlock these new heroes in the in-game store if you don’t want to complete the Challenges. Reminder: By signing in before Season 2 ends, Overwatch 1 owners will automatically receive the new heroes Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko.
8. Balance Changes
Another round of balance adjustments for Overwatch 2’s new season are made to bring some Heroes more in line with the roster’s competitive balance.
Sojourn dominates the top tiers of Competitive ranks, according to metrics and player feedback, while still being difficult for players without the same mechanical prowess. For Season 2, we’ll be emphasising the lethality of her Rail Gun at a distance to address the high-skill feedback, enticing players to use Sojourn’s high mobility to close the distance for the more devastating right-clicks.
While still retaining the playstyle that is the foundation of his Hero identity, Doomfist is receiving huge adjustments that better support his position as the team’s front line. When we release this new update on December 6, you can anticipate adjustments for Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy, and Symmetra as well.
