Overwatch 2 Sojourn guide: All abilities and playstyle with tips

Is Sojourn the new Soldier 76?!

A lot of new content has been added to the new Overwatch 2. Among them, the most significant things are the new heroes, new game modes, and maps. Each of the roles has a new hero for you to play with. Tank got Junker Queen, Support got Kiriko, and Damage role got the new hero named Sojourn. In this Sojourn guide, we’ll discuss all the basic tips and strategies that you can use with this hero in Overwatch 2.

Sojourn has been teased at the end of the original Overwatch as a founding member of the Overwatch team. According to the lore, she has worked with Reaper and Soldier 76 in the past. Then Sojourn was released as a playable hero in the Overwatch 2 beta. But now we finally get our hands on the hero after the proper release of Overwatch 2, as they were never released on the original Overwatch. If you are unaware of all the available heroes, make sure to check Overwatch 2 tier list.

Overwatch 2 Sojourn guide: All ability breakdown

Sojourn has some similarities with another hero in the game called Soldier 76. But the skill ceiling is higher on Sojourn as she requires more precise aim, and she is not a hit scan like Soldier 76. With that in mind, let us go through her abilities and break them down one at a time.

1. Railgun

Railgun is her main weapon of choice. It shoots pretty fast and has a 45 ammo capacity. The railgun is interesting because of the two different firing modes. The standard firing mode is a fast-moving projectile. It acts as a standard weapon and deals damage when the projectile hits the enemy.

As for the secondary firing mode, every time you hit an enemy with the primary fire, five charge builds up for her secondary mode. The more charge she has, the more damage she will deal. The charge can go up to 100. The secondary mode is a hit scan fire. This means it will hit the aimed point instantly.

2. Power Slide

Power Slide is Sojourn’s movement ability. Upon pressing the button, she will go into a slide motion. The slide itself goes pretty far. But while in the slide motion, you can press the spacebar at any time to perform a high jump. This is good for gaining the high ground or quickly killing someone with a fully charged secondary fire.

3. Disruptor Shot

Disruptor Shot is the area denial ability of Sojourn. Sojourn fires a round projectile from her arm. The projectile can get stuck to walls. Once fired, it will linger on the battlefield. Anyone inside its zone will continue to get damaged.

4. Ultimate: Overclock

Sojourn unleashes overclock mode for a certain period of time. While in this mode, her secondary fire railgun energy continuously fills up even if she doesn’t hit anyone. And, when she shoots her railgun, it piereces throw enemies. This can do serious damage to the opponent team and can even single-handedly take out the whole team if you hit all of your shots.

Best ways to play Sojourn in Overwatch 2 with tips

There is only one way you can play Sojourn. Stay with your team to get heals when necessary and deal a lot of damage to the opponents. Since she doesn’t have any healing skill, sustainability will come from your team.

Tips for Using the Railgun Secondary Shot

The secondary shot is a very powerful ability. One way to combo it with the primary fire is to build the energy of secondary up to 65 then fire it. If you do some damage to the enemy before firing the secondary, 65 charge is enough to finish them off.

Of course tanks do not work the same way. But as long as the target is not a tank, this combo works just fine. You can also build the energy to 100 then use the high jump to snipe someone from the back line using it.

Tips for Using Power Slide

Power Slide is a very good ability. But a better player will rarely use the skill for its slide. Your main function with this ability is its super jump. Any map where you can gain a higher position then fire on the enemy from high ground is good to take. And other thing you should keep in mind is while you are in the slide motion, you can still shoot or reload your gun.

Tips for Using Disruptor Shot

This is a very powerful area denial. Any player who doesn’t respect this ability and stays in it will die from the damage. So use the ability in a choke point when enemy is trying to push you. You can also use this ability to separate a member from the team. Another way to use this ability is on the payload, so that they have less area to gather around the payload. This is especially good at the overtime section of a match time.

We hope that this Sojourn guide will be useful in doing better performance and winning more in Overwatch 2. Make sure to check our other Overwatch 2 articles if you find this useful.
