Overwatch 2 Ramattra guide: All abilities and playstyle with tips

New Tank hero for Season 2!

Overwatch 2 Season 1 has finally come to an end. In season 2 of the game, Blizzard is introducing a new tank hero in the game. The latest tank hero before this was Junker Queen who was released as a playable character with the launch of Overwatch 2. Now in season 2, we are getting a new Omnic tank as a playable character. And by the looks of it, he has some interesting abilities.

The new hero is called Ramattra. He is a leader of the Omnic faction. In the story of the game, he is a key figure who started the Omnic uprise that resulted in the Omnic war. So with the new hero, we are not only getting a new playable tank but also progressing on the story of the game.

Ramattra: All ability breakdown

Ramattra is a shield brawler-type Tank in Overwatch 2. He has a shield like Sigma but the shield is not the main focus of his kit. He will be played more like a front-line brawler like Junker Queen or Roadhog. You want to block and deal damage yourself when playing as him. That being said, here are all of Ramattra’s abilities in Overwatch 2.

1. Passive: Tank Role Passive

Not every Overwatch 2 hero has a unique passive ability. Ramattra is one of the heroes that doesn’t have a unique passive. But he will still benefit from his role passive ability. Being a Tank, his role passive makes him take reduced knockback and the enemy generates less ultimate charge while shooting at him. This passive really synergizes well with his playstyle as he will most of the time be in front of everyone taking him for the teammates.

2. Void Accelerator

This is the staff Ramattra has. It functions as his weapon for primary fire. It has 100 ammo per round and is a projectile weapon. So you can compare this gun to Orisa’s machine gun. But the damage of the ability is still unknown as he is yet to be released in the game.

3. Barrier Shield

This ability is pretty self-explanatory. This shield looks very similar to Sigma’s shield. But they function pretty differently. Sigma’s shield can be deployed anywhere. But you have to target an area for the shield to deploy Ramattra’s shield. Upon pressing the deploy button, the shield will pop up from the ground.

4. Vortex of Gluttony

Ramattra launches a projectile orb which upon contact with a surface, creates an AoE. Anyone inside the AoE will take damage as long as they are in it. The orb itself will do damage to the enemies too if it directly hits them. But since the orb is very slow, it is highly unlikely that will happen much.

5. Chastisement

Chastisement is Ramattra’s true tank form. This form is called Nemesis. Upon pressing the ability button Ramattra will transform into Nemesis form for 8 seconds. The transformation will make him a lot bigger but he will also gain 150 armour for the duration. During this time, his primary and secondary fire will change into punch and block ability.

  • Punch – Ramattra attacks with his fists creating a shockwave that acts as a projectile to hit the enemies.
  • Block – Ramttra activates a block stance. During the block, all the damage from enemies is greatly reduced.

7. Ultimate: Destruction

Ramattra’s ultimate also switches him to Nemesis form. But this time with extra effects. Upon using his ultimate, he will switch to the nemesis form and emit an aura from him to create an energy zone. Since this zone is connected to Ramattra himself, you can move around and the zone will follow.

This energy zone will damage any enemy that is inside its radius. This can be a great ultimate to rush into the enemy team. If you have a good enough healer, this ability has the potential to win a team fight pretty easily.

Best ways to play Ramattra in Overwatch 2 with tips

Even though most of the marketing material for Ramattra made him seem like a brawler type of tank, he is better at holding a position than going in for a brawl. Ramattra has a high skill ceiling when comes to using his abilities. So you need to make sure you are getting values for the abilities when you use them.

Position Holder Playstyle

The best way to play Ramattra is his mage or normal form. His primary fire is hard to hit but it can put a lot of pressure on the enemies. And if the target is a sniper and not moving too much, Ramattra can easily headshot them and take them out of position. His shield only has 3 seconds up time. So you need to use this shield to push up to the enemy or to re-position during the battle.

And when the enemy team tries to pressure you, you can pop your Nemesis form to push them back. With a good enough healer, Ramattra will become unkillable in this form. You can use block and wait for the healer to heal you up then use the fists to deal damage to the opponent team.

Ramattra ultimate is one of the best and hardest to counter in the game. So make sure to farm for the ultimate and wait for an opportune moment to use it. His ultimate will guarantee a win in the team fight whenever used. You can use the ultimate at the end of a match to guarantee objective control. This can make the difference between winning or losing the game.
