Overwatch 2: Ramattra is an upcoming hero set to release in season 2

Overwatch 2 season 2 is approaching soon. With season 1 being close to the end, we got our first look at a new hero set to release in the next season of Overwatch 2 and his name is Ramattra. Blizzard said at the launch of Overwatch 2 they will bring out a new hero every other season. According to that statement, the next hero was supposed to be released in season 3. But they also mentioned they would release a new hero in both seasons 1 and 2. Thus we will be getting him in the next season of Overwatch.

In season 1, we got a new support hero Kiriko. And along with the launch, everyone got Junker Queen, and Sojourn unlocked for free. In season 2, Overwatch will introduce this new hero Ramattra to the roaster, making him the official 36th hero of the game.

Ramattra is the new scary Tank in Overwatch 2

Ramattra is a leader of the Null sector, which is the main bad faction of the game. He wanted to co-exist with humans but got pushed away from society. Now he is a rebellious leader on a course to destroy everyone that dares to stand in his path.

Overwatch 2 has many more damage characters than the support and tank ones. So the devs have said they are looking to change that. We will be getting a lot more support and tank heroes to match up with the number of damage role characters in the game.

With that in mind, the new hero Ramattra will be a Tank. He is set to release in season 2, which will start on 6 December 2022. This new trailer was first premiered and released at the grand finale of the Overwatch League, giving us a bit of backstory for the character.

Overwatch 2 Ramattra abilities explained

Right now, Blizzard is trying to focus on building up the backstory for the character. So they did not say much about the abilities of Ramattra. But some devs have expressed that he is going to be a tank unlike any other we currently have in the game. He will be a character capable of defending the team and pushing into the team to get some damage.

According to some dev talk, he also has an ability that ignores shields. So you can directly do damage through Winston’s shield or Zarya’s bubble. That is all we know about his ability right now. But if these abilities are to make it into the game, we can sure see some meta-shift happen with the start of season 2.

While we are all excited to see what he can do in the game, we need to keep in mind he will be locked in the battle pass for everyone. Unlike Kiriko, you will not be getting him Day 1 if you don’t have the premium battle pass. So, you will need some time to grind and unlock him if you are a free-to-play player.

Overwatch 2 Ramattra release date

According to announcements, Ramattra will release in the Overwatch 2 ranked season 2 and that is December 6, 2022.
