Genshin Impact: Seven characters you can get for free at the start

In Genshin impact you will start your journey with just a single character, the Traveler. But during battle you will need three more characters beside him to make a full team. Over time, you will need to build them out to improve their unique skills. But for now, let’s see how to get characters when you start the game. When you start Genshin Impact, you will be introduced to a few different characters. The game is kind enough to provide you with a full team as you progress along the story. So here is a detailed guide on how to get seven free characters at the start of Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact: How to get the free characters

As we have said before, there are seven characters you can get for free if you are a new player of Genshin Impact. We will be going through all of them individually and learning how to get them to join the party in the game.

1. The Traveler

Traveler is the main character of Genshin Impact. He is the one you start the game with. At the start of the game, you can choose the traveler to be a male or female. In the Genshin lore, the cannon traveler is the male version. But you can choose to be the female version of the traveler too. Either way, since the traveler is a silent protagonist, it will not affect the story much.

As you progress through the game, you will be able to unlock different elements for the traveler to use. And since you start with him/her in Genshin Impact, this is the first free character you have in the game.

2. Amber

Amber is pretty easy to unlock. She is the first character you meet on your journey. So, just follow the main story quest, and you will encounter her. When you find her for the first time, talk to her to get her to join your team. There is a small combat section you and Amber have to overcome. But after that, she will stay in your team whenever you want to use her abilities in the battle.

3. Kaeya

If you keep following the game’s story quest, you will eventually reach a point where you will be tasked with checking out a few temples. These are pre-made dungeons for the players to overcome. These temples can be tackled in whatever ways the player wants. But you will find Kayea in front of one of the temples. Go talk to him and complete this temple with him. This will unlock Kaeya to be used in your team.

4. Lisa

After you receive Kaeya, move on to the next temple. Lisa will be waiting for you in front of that temple. If you haven’t done Kaeya’s one, you can track down which temple has Lisa waiting for you and go there to do that first. After completing the temple, you will have her in your party for the rest of the game. She is a four-star Electro catalyst user.

5. Noelle

When you start the game, you will have a special offer where you can use eight acquaint fate to pull for ten times. And when you do these ten pulls, you are guaranteed to receive Noelle, a five-star geo claymore user. She is not the best character in the long run, but she is valuable nonetheless for a new player.

6. Barbara

Barbara’s sole purpose in the game is to be a healer. She is the first healer you will unlock in Genshin Impact. You used to be able to unlock her after reaching Adventure Level 20 back when the game was released. But that has been changed now.

Now you can unlock Barbara when you complete the quest “A Long Shot”. This is the first big main story quest you must do in the game. So as long as you follow the story quest, you will get there eventually. After completing the quest, go to the event menu to unlock her for your party.

7. Xangling

After making some progress on the game, you will hit Adventure Rank 20. This unlocks a new feature, The Spiral Abyss. This is a floor-based challenge dungeon where you must complete the floors to receive awards.

Each floor has three chambers, and there are 12 floors in total. If you get to floor three chambers 3, you can unlock Xangling from the event menu without cost. She is considered to be the best free character in the game. Even the highest-level players use her to beat the game’s hardest content. So she will definitely be a good addition to the team.
