Genshin Impact Layla guide for best build, artifacts, weapons and more
Laziest Astrologer of Sumeru!
In Genshin Impact, Layla is an astrologer who is currently studying in the Sumeru Academica. She is so lazy that she developed the power to write her papers while asleep. In Phase 2 of Version 3.2, we have gotten our hands on her to incorporate into the team. Even though she is pretty new, we have a pretty good understanding of what she could do in the game. So let us discuss how to build Layla and what you need to level her up to her max potential.
Genshin Impact Layla Guide: Talents and Playstyle
Layla is a shielder support in Genshin Impact. She has the 2nd best shield in the game after Zhongli. But, her damage is pretty lacklustre. So focusing on building up her shield and as a cryo applicator is her playstyle. Since she is primarily going to be a shielder, you don’t really need to upgrade her normal attack talent. Thus you will focus on upgrading her talent as Elemental Burst> Elemental Skill> Normal Attack.
Passive Talents
Her passive help her play with her shield more effectively. The first passive makes her shield stronger and each time a character uses a skill, her shield generates a star which helps with cryo application. This makes her synergies with a quick swap playstyle. And her second passive makes her burst scale with her HP. But since her damage can often be negligible, this is more or less useless.

Here is all the Constellation for Layla you can unlock in the game:

Additionally, when unleashing Nights of Formal Focus, she will generate a shield for any nearby party members who are not being protected by a Curtain of Slumber. This shield will have 35% of the absorption of a Curtain of Slumber, will last for 12s, and will absorb Cryo DMG with 250% effectiveness. |

Dawn Star can last up to 3s and will be removed 0.05s after dealing Normal or Charged Attack DMG. |

Best Artifact Sets for Layla in Genshin Impact
Layla needs to focus on Building HP and buffing the team. Thus there are two distinct sets she is good with. The first is Tenacity of Millelith which is the best slot for her. But if you don’t have the set farmed, you can use Nobless Oblige to buff your whole team.

Best weapon for Layla in Genshin Impact
There isn’t any good HP scaling four-star weapon for Layla to use. So you can choose from one of the support weapons that have sufficient energy recharge on it. This way you can keep using Layla’s burst to keep applying cryo onto enemies. With that said, these are good weapons for Layla to use:
1. Key of Khaj-Nisut
The HP increase from this weapon makes Layla’s shield almost unbreakable by the normal enemy. So if you have the weapon you should definitely use it on Layla. But if you don’t have it, you don’t need to pull for the weapon.

| Skill | Sunken Song of the Sands HP increased by 20%. When an Elemental Skill hits opponents, you gain the Grand Hymn effect for the 20s. This effect increases the equipping character’s Elemental Mastery by 0.12% of their Max HP. This effect can trigger once every 0.3s. Max 3 stacks. When this effect gains 3 stacks, or when the third stack’s duration is refreshed, the Elemental Mastery of all nearby party members will be increased by 0.2% of the equipping character’s max HP for the 20s. |
2. Favonius Sword
Favonius Sword is a good four-star choice, since there is no four-star weapon with an HP stat. Using this sword, it also enables Layla to act as a battery for the team.

Best Team Comps for Layla in Genshin Impact
Since Layla is a support, any team that needs a shield can use her. Many of the older teams that used Diona can be replaced with Layla. Here are a couple of the teams that can use Layla as support for the team.
1. Eula Super-Conduct
This team uses superconduct to increase the damage for Eula. Since Eula needs a shield to stay alive, you can use Layla for that.

The Mono Cryo team got popular with the release of Shenhe. She enables all the cryo units to deal a lot of damage. Thus you can use Layla in any mono-cryo team as long as it has Shenhe to support them.

Special Dish
- Name: Extravagant Slumber
- Effect: The dish restores 26% of Max HP to the selected character and regenerates 570 HP every 5s for the 30s.
