WWE 2K23 release date and cover art reportedly leaked

WWE 2K23 details leaked, might have a new game mode.

WWE 2K23 release date, which was to be released later this month has been leaked along with its cover art. The leak came from Twitter user “Aggiornamenti Lumia“, a reliable Microsoft Store miner who leaked other games and features coming to Xbox beforehand. The tweet which revealed WWE 2K23 would release on 17 March 2023 has now been deleted, but some eagle-eyed gamers had seen the tweet before it disappeared.

WWE2k23 cover reportedly will feature John Cena

In the now-deleted tweet, it was also revealed that 16-time world champion, John Cena will feature on the game’s cover with his iconic “You Can’t See Me” Pose. The leaked cover art mentions a “cross-gen version”, so it’s safe to assume that the game would support PS4 and Xbox One, and would not be exclusive to current-gen consoles i.e. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

According to a report by Insider Gaming, An official reveal of the upcoming WWE title is set to take place on January 28 at this year’s Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas. The report also states that the event would also reveal a new game mode as well as feature hands-on gameplay sessions.

WWE 2k23 would be the tenth entry of the Professional Wrestling Game series, developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. WWE 2K23 will be featuring lesser wrestlers in its roster than the last entry. As many as 50 wrestlers might be missing from this year’s release. Some of these wrestlers have left WWE to join its rival AEW since WWE 2K22 was released last year. The game will also be available on PC.

An earlier report by Insider Gaming also suggests that gameplay changes will be made when it comes to the pinning system. MyFaction and MyGM game modes would also be receiving updates. Both of these game modes are set to receive “more depth and quality of live improvements”.

The cover art featuring John Cena has also given strength to rumors of his inclusion in the game’s Showcase Mode. The Showcase is a game mode that lets players play through some of the iconic matches of a particular wrestling superstar. Last year Rey Mysterio was featured on the game’s cover art and Showcase Mode focused on 12 of his iconic matches.

We can expect more details regarding the game after the embargo lifts on 1st February.
