The Witcher Sirius could have co-op multiplayer

The game will introduce new players to The Witcher without "hardcore role-playing".

CDPR is currently developing several Witcher games, with different game mechanics and audiences in mind. One of them is Project Sirius which will be a multiplayer game set in The Witcher Universe. More details have been revealed about the game through the job postings on their official website.

A post on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit lists several roles for which the company is hiring and the job descriptions provide various hints about the different game modes and features of the upcoming game.

Witcher Sirius to have non-linear storytelling

Project Sirius was announced in October of last year alongside a new Witcher Trilogy, a Cyberpunk Sequel, and a new IP by CDPR. The game is being developed by The Molasses Flood, set in The Witcher universe, and created with support from CDPR. It will offer multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience including a campaign with quests and a story. The Molasses Flood has previously worked on Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow. They were bought by CDPR last year.

The job listings mentions that World Builder is needed to build a “stylized game”. Generally, CDPR games feature realistic graphics but, this time it seems to be different and the new game might have a more cartoony look which will be in line for the developers working on this game. The game will also feature  Co-Op and PvE game modes with class systems involving social interaction.

The listing for narrative designer mentions “Branching and non linear storytelling” as well as “cinematic storytelling and voiced dialogue”. So, there seems to be a story that the players will be able to experience with their friends that would involve multiple paths and choices.

The team also requires “Experience working with procedural generation systems” and “Design experience with systems heavy action/adventure games”. This will likely be a action heavy game with a procedurally generated world but would not involve traditional role-playing as in previous games.

No, release date has been announced by CDPR for this project. Project Polaris seems to be the next game that will release as it has already entered pre-production, and even it seems to be at least three years away and The Witcher Remake is also in development. So, Project Sirius is still far away and may undergo changes during its development.
