Suicide Squad devs clarify after leaks showing Battlepass and Live Service Elements

Battlepass and multiple currencies worry fans, dev clarifies.

A leaked image of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has recently surfaced on 4chan revealing Live Service elements, an In-game store and a battle pass system. According to VGC, these photos were from a recent test build of the game. These leaks indicate that the game might follow a ‘Games as a Service’ model like ‘Marvel’s Avengers’.

The Game Will Have Six Different Currencies

Twitter user ‘Andrew Marmo‘ shared a screenshot from the game, in which we can see a menu system with tabs such as ‘Squad’, ‘Looks’, ‘Loadout’, ‘Store’, ‘Battlepass’ and more.

Just below the menu bar are six different currencies that might be used to unlock different cosmetics and skills. The loadout tab indicates that the players would have the option to customize their characters in the game, and there will also be a store to buy in-game items with money.

The squad selection screen also seems to confirm that the game will feature support for cross-play. The four playable characters are showcased on the screen, with Captain Boomerang having the PlayStation symbol next to him, unlike the other three, which have a symbol that most likely represents PC.

As reported by VGC, a source involved in the game’s development told the website that the various currencies will act as XP for each character, used to power up the characters by unlocking various skills and customising their skill trees. The source also claimed that the battle pass focused on cosmetic items like skins.

VGC was also told that “You don’t start off debuffed and weak, You just start off great and can get ridiculous, like Arkham Knight’s Batman.”

Suicide Squad is being developed by the makers of the Batman Arkham Trilogy

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is the next action-adventure set in Gotham City by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Rocksteady Studios had previously developed The Batman Arkham: Trilogy, which ended in which we played as ‘Batman’ trying to eradicate crime from the streets of Gotham.

Suicide Squad: KtJL lets players play as the members of Suicide Squad, such as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark, who will be up against the heroes in The Justice League. The game will be playable in single-player or online co/op mode. A recent trailer also confirmed that legendary Kevin Conroy would voice Batman.

The game will launch on 26 May 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
