S2G Esports is crowned as the champion of the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022
Finally a non Asian champion
S2G Esports, the champions of the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL) Türkiye Fall 2022, has been crowned as the new world champions of PUBG Mobile. While DRS Gaming of Nepal came in second place in the tournament. This year’s PMGC started on November 10, 2022, with 50 teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tournament’s final stage featured 16 teams fighting for the title of world champion in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament featured a massive prize pool of $4,000,000 USD.
S2G Esports showed a consistent performance throughout the tournament
PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2022 was a long tournament divided into several stages. The tournament started with the group stage, where 48 teams were divided into three groups. The top three teams from each group qualified directly to the finals, while the bottom five teams of each group were eliminated. The rest of the teams from each group qualified for the survival stage. Again, the top 16 teams from this survival stage played in the last chance, and the top five teams from the last chance finally made it to the grand finals.
However, the ride to the finals was pretty easy for S2G Esports. S2G Esports came in third place in Group Red behind Buriram United Esports and Influence Chemin Esports and qualified directly to the finals. The road to finals for the runner-up team, DRS Gaming, was not too smooth. The team had to play the group stage, survival stage, and last chance to qualify for the Grand Finals.
S2G Esports did not have a dominating performance in the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 but rather had a consistent one. Although the team could not pick up many chicken dinners, they came out on the top with their consistent position and kill points. S2G Esports won in the final round with only one chicken dinner. Whereas Thailand’s Vampire Esports came in sixth place even with the highest number of chicken dinners.
