Overwatch 2 guide: How to get every currency for free

Overwatch 2, unlike its predecessor, is a free-to-play game. Blizzard removed their box product model to fund Overwatch 2 as a live service game. But with that comes the typical many-currency system of a free-to-play game. Currently, the game has four different currencies you can use to buy different items. So here, we will take a look at every type of currency in Overwatch 2 and find out how to get each type of currency for free.
1. Overwatch Coins
Overwatch coins are the main currency you will get when playing Overwatch 2. The goal is to purchase Premium Battle Pass. It rewards tracks, skins, and many other cosmetics and items. You can also buy stuff from the shop and the Hero Gallery with this currency.
But there is only one way players can earn Overwatch coins for free. It involves them completing the Weekly challenges. Completing weekly challenges each week will give you some Overwatch Coins. 2. Legacy Credits
In the original Overwatch, there were also Overwatch coins. But after transforming to the game now known as Overwatch 2, the devs added a whole new currency for the new game. Thus, the previous Overwatch Coins got transformed into Legacy Credits.
As these coins are previously earned in the original Overwatch, it is impossible to earn new Legacy Credits in the sequel. However, if you have the old Legacy credit in your inventory, you can still use it to get certain items in Overwatch 2.
3. Competitive Points
Competitive point is one of the currencies in Overwatch 2. With this, players can buy Golden Gun for a character. The golden gun represents a player’s investment and attachment to the character. There is only one place a player can obtain this currency, and it is by playing Overwatch 2’s ranked mode called Competitive.
You will gain 15 Competitive currencies after each Competitive win. Another way to get Competitive Currency is at the end of each Competitive season. You can earn a huge amount of Competitive currency for free. But the amount will depend on your rank at the end of the season.
4. Overwatch League Tokens
Overwatch League Token, or Owl Token for short, is a special currency designed in Overwatch, which is specifically made for players to buy Overwatch League Skins. Overwatch 2 has a separate shop section where you can use your tokens to buy various skins along with all the team skins for the Overwatch league.
The players can also use these tokens on sprays, voice lines, emote, victory poses, and highlight intros. The only way you can get Overwatch League Tokens free is to watch Overwatch League matches on YouTube. But make sure your battle.net account is connected to YouTube. Otherwise, you won’t be getting any tokens.
