Final Fantasy XVI will be set in the fantasy world of Valisthea, blessed by the mountains of crystals. The people live in peace and prosperity in the world of Valisthea, thanks to the Aether from the Mothercrystals that has blessed all the six realms around the mountain: The Grand Duchy of Rosaria, The Holy Empire of Sanbreque, The Kingdom of Waloed, The Dhalmekian Republic, The Iron Kingdom and The Crystalline Dominion.
The plot of the game revolves around the Eikons, a monster that can be summoned by humans living called Dominants in each real. Some realm treats the Dominants as royalty, while some are treated as weapons of war against other realms.
The main protagonist of Final Fantasy XVI will be Clive Rosfield, the firstborn child of the Archduke of Rosaria, who was expected to inherit the Eikon Phoenix, but his younger brother Joshua Rosfield was chosen as the Dominant of Phoenix. Clive was sworn to protect Joshua as the First Shield of Rosaria. But soon, his life changes after a tragic event that sweeps up his younger brother. The dark Eikon Ifrit was responsible for the tragedy, and now Clive seeks revenge against it.
The players will play as Clive at different ages, from his teens to his thirties and must engage in real-time combat as Clive uses different melee attacks and magical abilities. Final Fantasy XVI will reportedly have various other gameplay modes and many side quests for the players to complete.

Final Fantasy XVI will be released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but will be eligible for release on other platforms in the future as the title will be a time-exclusive PlayStation game.
Final Fantasy XVI release date and pre-order details
Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2023 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, it will be a time-exclusive title, and a PC release is confirmed as the end of the trailer shows “Also available on PC’. PC fans might have to wait a year after it is released on PlayStation 5 to get the game on their platforms. However, no information has yet been revealed regarding the game’s release on other platforms except PlayStation 5.
