A peek into the world of PlayStation VR2

With Playstation VR2 set to release on February 22, 2023, Sony has made the headlines by announcing 11 new games for the upcoming platform, with more titles to be revealed. The same day Sony hyped up the VR scene by announcing the launch date of their new virtual reality headset PlayStation VR2 along with the VR2 Sense controller charging station, they revealed their new line of games for the platform. As the previous PSVR games won’t be compatible with the new headset, the newly revealed titles will certainly take the market by storm. In this article, we will discuss everything related to the new PlayStation VR2 and the upcoming games.

Sony PlayStation VR2: list of all the announced games

1. The Light Brigade

Developed by Funktronic Labs, The Light Brigade is a new single-player roguelike game built to experience immersive gunplay and grim mystery. Its realistic gunplay physics, tense story progression, and gut-wrenching shoot-outs will stand it out from other games.

2. Cities VR – Enhanced Edition

Cities: VR developed by Fast Travel Games is a VR adaptation of the leading city-builder game, Cities: Skylines, where you can build and manage the city of your dreams. From tiny hamlets to grand metropoles, design road networks, manage your city’s finances, and provide your citizens with the services they need as you buy land and expand your city. You’ll need to build a city from scratch and attract citizens to your city. 

3. The Dark Pictures: Switchback

The Dark Pictures: Switchback is a fast-paced action-horror-shooter with horrifying jump scares where every move can mean the difference between life and death. This game will be the most awaited by VR gamers.

4. Pistol Whip VR

Pistol Whip VR will be the enhanced version of the previous VR game of the same name with improved gun physics, a new dimension to the blood-pumping action with headset feedback, every weapon with its own feedback for firing and reloading, etc.

5. Crossfire: Sierra Squad

Crossfire: Sierra Squad developed by Smilegate is an FPS where gamers will play as the leader of an elite fire team in the middle of a war over a top-secret biochemical weapon that has recently been discovered.

6. Cosmonious High

From the developers of popular games, Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator comes a new single-player alien adventure game Cosmonious High. The game character Prismi will try to restore Cosmonious High to its former glory after the crash landing into it.

7. Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue

In Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, gamers together with 5 friends will swoop into Mr Peterson’s creepy house to save their friend held captive in the basement. Gamers will have to outsmart him and escape his clutches.

8. Zenith: The Last City

The polished version of Zenith: The Last City will be released for VR2 with a new player experience overhaul, New systems, rich gameplay, Massive graphic updates, a chance to experience a whole new dimension of interaction with adaptive triggers, etc.

9. After The Fall

After the Fall is a fierce co-op shooter set in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. Gamers will Team up with three others after setting out from a survivor camp to survive the harsh world, or they can head out into the city solo and take on the hordes of mutants or towering bosses.

10. Tentacular

Tentacular, developed by Firepunchd Games UG, is a physics-based adventure game bursting with immersive VR gameplay and a heart-warming story. The game progresses as a gigantic but good-hearted tentacled beast tries to figure out its place in the world.

11. Jurassic World Aftermath Collection

Jurassic World Aftermath Collection is a reworked version of the popular survival adventure game Jurassic World Aftermathwhich combines both Part 1 and Part 2 into one complete collection. The game is set between Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Sony PlayStation VR2: pricing

The PlayStation VR2 will have a standard retail price of $549.99 which will include a PS VR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. Sony has also announced the PlayStation VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, which will go for $599.99. The bundle includes a PlayStation Store voucher code for Horizon Call of the Mountain, a PSVR2 headset, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. So the bundle roughly gives us an idea of the prices of PSVR2’s games. The games should go for in between 50$-60$ each.

Sony PlayStation VR2: How to buy and release date

Players can also purchase PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging stations separately at a price of $49.99. Pre-orders will begin on November 15 in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, and players can register for pre-orders starting now. In other markets, pre-orders for PSVR2 will begin on November 15.
