Netflix announces new Gears of War live-action movie and animated series

In a recent Twitter post, Netflix announced a new live-action movie and an adult animated series for the popular game Gears of War. On the occasion of Gears of War’s 16th anniversary on November 7th, the streaming company has announced their new video game adaptation project partnering with the developers The Coalition.
Netflix has continued their high-profile and hyped video game adaptations in the form of a series or a live-action movie. From animated series like Arcane to live-action series like The Witcher, Netflix has got quite a good response to their video game adaptation projects, and the fans are pretty rightly hyped about the latest announcement. Several big studios had previously tried to bring the popular game franchise to the screens but couldn’t deliver it; now Netflix is taking their chances!
World of Sera might be coming to the screens
Gears of War is a sci-fi third-person shooter game with spin-off games, a DC comic book series, seven novels, and a board game adaptation. The game was originally developed by Epic Games before Microsoft acquired the rights of the franchise, and Canadian developers The Coalition took over the franchise in January 2014.
Gears of Wars is set in the world of Sera, and the story focuses on the conflict between humanity and the Locust, a subterranean reptilian hominid. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, and the story follows commander Marcus Fenix and his Delta Squad from the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) as humanity’s last savior against the Locust, who emerged from Sera’s depth and started to take over the world.
Gears of War has had five instalments till now, with the first title, ‘Gear of War’, released on November 7, 2006, for the Xbox 360 and was one of the best-selling titles on Xbox 360. The franchise also had a spinoff game and a turned-based strategy game. With the announcement of the new live-action movie and animated series, many speculate this move as Microsoft’s reply to Sony‘s recent screen presence with movies like Uncharted and the upcoming God of War TV series.

Netflix has not yet announced the release date for their recently announced video game adaptation project. The cast and production crew are yet to be revealed, so the fans might have to wait for quite a long time before getting any new announcements regarding the live-action movie and adult animated series of Gears of War.
