Play one of the most delightful tabletop games.

Subnautica developer Unknown Worlds announced their latest project, “Moonbreaker,” at gamescom ONL 2022. Published by KRAFTON, Inc., Moonbreaker is a turn-based strategy tabletop tactics game. Set in an expansive Sci-fi universe created by the famous author Brandon Sanderson, Moonbreaker is designed to give people a different experience than other digital tabletop strategy games. Early access to the game will be available on Steam from September 29th. In this article, we will discuss everything that we know about Moonbreaker till now.

Moonbreaker brings a unique tabletop experience

Moonbreaker can be a delight to strategic, sci-fi, and tabletop game fans. The gameplay focuses on two parts: Fighting and Painting. First, the players will have to set up a roster of units and battle it out in an arena against an AI or another player in a turn-based combat system.

The units are represented by the game’s tabletop models designed by real-life artists. The roster will consist of a captain and ten crew members, who can be selected from the 50 characters the players will unlock throughout the game. During the combat, the players are restricted to one move, one attack, and one special move per turn.

The painting experience of this game is another thing that makes it unique compared to other tabletop miniature games. There’s a whole set of painting tools through which the players can paint all their in-game miniatures as they like and add their unique style to every unit. Players can also give their roster a customized banner and every other thing according to the player’s preference. If anyone is not interested in painting the miniatures, they can still enjoy the game through every unit’s default paint job, painted by professional miniature painters.

The trailer of Moonbreaker released by Unknown Worlds shows the animation style of the game that is set in the universe created by the famous author Brandon Sanderson. The miniatures shown in the trailers are full of character, as they fight it out using attacks and their abilities in different well-crafted arenas. The weapons shown in the trailers are also well designed for miniatures, and the gameplay gives a unique experience of digital tabletop games.

The trailer also shows how the players have to build up their roster from the units in the game and select a captain from the three choices they are given: Astra, Extilior, and Zax Ja’kar. An overview of the painting of the miniatures is also shown in the trailer, as the players can paint, customize and give their miniatures a unique look.
