Overwatch 2: All known issues and how to fix them
So many issues already!
Overwatch 2 has had a bit of a rocky launch day. Along with different bugs and problems, the servers also got attacked from outside. So there has been a fair few problems that have shown up in the game. Many of these problems have been addressed by the Blizzard Overwatch team. They are working on fixes to the problems. In this article, we’ll talk about all the Overwatch 2 common problems and issues and see how we can fix this.
Some problems have already been fixed, or the community has found a workaround. So let us go through each problem and see how you can fix or counter that. And if there isn’t any fix yet, we will discuss what can be done right now.
Overwatch 2 issue: Communicating with battle.net services error
This error can show up at any time in the game. Some people have gotten this error in the middle of a game. The game automatically shuts down to the connecting screen and then shows the error. There are two reasons behind it in Overwatch 2.
The first reason is the most plausible in the early launch day of Overwatch 2. The Overwatch servers have been filled with DDoS attacks. This overloads the servers and makes the connection errors that are showing up while you are in the game. But the other reason can simply be the servers are down, or your internet connection may have a problem.
To fix it, check your internet connection, then google to check if the Blizzard servers are down or not. If the servers are down, you must wait until they are back up. But if the problem lies within your internet connection, you need to call up and fix it on your side. As for the DDoS attack, they are working to solve the problem.
Long queue time to get into Overwatch 2
Long Queue time has always been a problem with Blizzard game launches. Overwatch 2 is no exception there either. People have been facing 30k to 40k people in front of a queue while trying to log into the game. Unfortunately, that is a problem for the devs to solve. There is nothing for the community to do.
But there is a workaround the community has been using to reduce the queues slightly. You can try to set your region to Asia to reduce the queue. This doesn’t mean it will get rid of the queue, but things will be a bit more tolerable. And do not worry about the ping; it still connects you to the nearest server.
Overwatch 2 account merge not working
Account Merge is a new thing for all console players. Previously the consoles didn’t need any battle.net account to play Overwatch. But now, they are implementing a cross-progression system in the game. Thus, all the console players need to create a battle.net account and merge their existing account with it.
But the problem is, because of the large player pool, it is not working properly, according to some people. However, Blizzard has put out a statement on the Overwatch forum regarding this topic. Here they say the merger is working as intended. But it is taking a bit of time to do so.
So you can try to merge your account now if you are a console player. But if it doesn’t work right now, you can just play the game and try to merge the account later. Your data will still merge with the battle.net account even if you play without merging.
Pre-owned items are not found in Overwatch 2
We have seen many people who cannot find items they previously owned in the original Overwatch. Sometimes the Watchpoint pack owners cannot find their items either. And this can often be the result of an account merge. But do not fear; the Overwatch team has responded to the problem.
They said they are aware of the problem and working on a fix. And also added they have all the data, so no one will lose any items. But the fix will take some time and will be implemented between Oct 10th and Oct 16th.
All heroes locked in Overwatch 2 (for old players)
Overwatch 2 has an impressive 35-hero roaster. For the old Overwatch players, all the heroes are unlocked from the beginning of Overwatch 2. But newer players have to go through a first-time experience to unlock all the heroes. It takes about 100 matches, gives or take to unlock all the heroes in the game.
That was the intended system for Overwatch 2. But for some reason, old players are finding themselves locked out of other heroes same as the new players. Fortunately, this is very easy to fix. Simply restart the game, and it will get fixed.
