Gotham Knights: Release date, Gameplay details, System requirements and more

Warner Bros. brings back the crime city of Gotham in a brand new game. Read to find out more!

Gotham Knights, the latest game title based on the world of the DC Universe, is all set to be launched in the last quarter of 2022, as stated by the developers at the recent Gamescom ONL 2022 event. Developed by WB Games Montreal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Gotham Knights was announced back in 2020 during the pandemic phase, at an online event called the DC FanDome in August 2022.

Gotham Knights: Gameplay details

Gotham Knights is classified as an open-world, action-type role-playing game, also known as an RPG. It is set in the city of Gotham, notorious for its crime in the fictional universe of DC Comics. Gotham is home to several iconic characters such as “The Dark Night” Batman and the notorious villain, The Joker. The story is set after the supposed death of Gotham’s great defender Batman, and at a time when acts of crime are rampant all over the city. At such a tumultuous time, the story follows the arc of Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Batman’s protege Robin who are there to fill in the shoes of the great Batman as the defender of the city.

The four characters will be upgradeable, but doing so will also increase the level of the foes opposing them, in order to keep the scales balanced. Each of the four characters will also have a set of abilities unique to them, as a reflection of their comic book selves and a playstyle that revolves around it. Back in May 2022, the developers released a gameplay trailer featuring Red Hood and Nightwing which showcased enough action for players to grasp what the game is all about. The gameplay can be compared to that of the previous Batman Arkham games and also with Marvel’s Spider-Man, which belongs to the franchise of DC’s arch-rival, Marvel Comics.

The heroes will fight against the villainous group known as the “Court of Owls”, featuring the crime lords of Gotham such as Penguin and their trained assassins called the “Talons”. Players will be able to get the resources required for upgrading and buying equipment, suits and other gear by fighting and solving crimes across the city.

When not serving justice, players could also engage in exploring the open world of Gotham, by using the grapple at their disposal or by taking out the iconic Batcycle for a spin. During the day, players will be situated at the Belfry, where everything miscellaneous will be carried out, while they will fight crime at night. The game will also feature a co-op mode in addition to its single-player campaign mode, where the second player can drop in the game or log out, without affecting their teammate who is also playing.

The game looks extremely sophisticated and high end which could be a deal-breaker for many people who do not have a powerful device which could run the game.

Final Thoughts

That is it for all the information which is available to be shared, as of now. Gotham Knights have been cited as being independent and unrelated to all other Batman and DC media. Thus, players are looking at a game that has an identity and story in itself. This could be the making of a great game, and we will know if it is, by the end of this year after the game is released.
