FPL Gameweek 18 Watchlist 2022/23: 5 Fantasy players to watch out for

The Premier League and FPL lived up to their usual standards upon resuming. Teams like Arsenal, Newcastle, and Brighton held on to their previous forms. Besides, for some fans, the return of the club football itself was a relief. The FPL season too would parallelly run; hence, in this FPL Gameweek 18 Watchlist, we would be throwing light upon our top 5 picks for this week. In this FPL Gameweek 18 Watchlist 2022/23, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

The watchlist is back to identify players who’ve caught the eye based on past performances and upcoming fixtures. So here are a few suggestions for your consideration.

1. Kieran Trippier (Defender) – 5.9 million

No other defensive asset is more convincing at the moment than Trippier. Newcastle’s right-back sits third in the overall player standings with 108 points, at least 32 points ahead of any other defender. Despite his output and low cost, Trippier is still not owned by a third of managers ahead of Gameweek 18, as per FPL Twitter.

Also, he ranks 1st in Creativity Index among defenders. He averages 0.3 assists per 90 and has an xA per 90 of 0.29, which is the joint highest for Premier League defenders (tied with Robertson).

2. Andrew Robertson (Defender) – 6.8 million

The Liverpool left-back has looked back to his best in recent matches, supplying four of his five assists this season in his last four outings. Also, the Reds face only two of the current top six in their next 11 matches. Furthermore, for a man who broke the record for the most assists from a defender recently, more can be expected from him.

Defensive problems might still persist in the squad, but while attacking, the Liverpool fullbacks make no compromise. Furthermore, he ranks 4th in both Creativity and overall ICT Index among defenders and is also having a very low TSB at around 5%. Considering him to be a well-known fantasy asset, Robertson makes our list as the final contender.

3. Marcus Rashford (Midfielder) – 6.7 million

The third-most transferred-in player ahead of the GW 18 has been this Red Devil. His great 14 points return in the last game week against Nottingham Forest was his 3rd double-digit haul this season so far.

Standing on 76 fantasy points so far, he can be a decent cheaply priced choice, based on the fact that four of Manchester United’s next six matches score just two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR). Rashford has featured in every league game so far for his team and has made 8 goal contributions till now, 2 of which came in the last game week.

4. Aleksandar Mitrović (Forward) – 6.9 million

The most transferred-in player for this game week has to make our list. The last game week has been very fruitful for Mitrovic owners, owing to his 15 points return. Mitrovic silently has made a massive impact both in the league and fantasy league too.

With 76 points already, and a cost of 6.9m, he should be on any fantasy manager’s radar now. He also has an xG+xA of 0.77 per 90 minutes, which ranks 5th among players in the league. Also, considering Fulham’s next 5 fixtures to be of FDR 3 or lesser, having the Serbian may be a wise choice.

5. Ivan Toney (Forward) – 7.5 million

The Brentford man is currently showing the form we expected him to show last season. With 0.67 xG+xA per 90, he has been the 2nd most transferred-in player for GW18. He ranks 7th in the overall ICT index and is a constant threat in the opposition box for all the obvious reasons. Also, going into the fixture against an off-form Hammers side, you may expect the Bees, especially Toney to sting as expected.
