These players offer a combination of good form, favourable fixtures, and value for money and could be key contributors for their teams in the upcoming gameweeks.
FPL Gameweek 18 Differentials 2022/23
1. Kepa Arrizabalaga (Goalkeeper) – 4.5 million
Kepa has established himself as Chelsea‘s starting goalkeeper and has kept a clean sheet in 4 of his last 5 Premier League starts, scoring 36 points in that period for an impressive average of 7.2 points per game. In GW18, have a good fixture against Nottingham Forest, who ranks 18th for expected goals and 20th for shots on target per match (3).
Chelsea also has a double gameweek in GW19 against Manchester City and Fulham and are one of just two with double fixtures that week. With an ownership of just 6%, Kepa could be a differential pick while also adding some value for money at a price of 4.5 million.
2. Andrew Robertson (Defender) – 6.8 million
Liverpool has a good fixture against Leicester at home in this gameweek, and does not face any teams currently in the top six of the Premier League until GW26. Robertson could be a good replacement for Reece James, who was popular before GW17 but was substituted off with an injury in his last match, as many managers may be looking for defensive replacements.
Robertson has 5 assists in 11 appearances this season, with 4 of them coming in his last 4 matches, showing that he is in good form. He is Liverpool’s top assister and ranks 3rd in the league for assists, making him a player with strong attacking potential. Liverpool’s defence has also been solid this season, ranking 5th for the least goals conceded per game (1.2). With an ownership of just 5.8%, Robertson could turn out to be a great differential pick.
3. Mason Mount (Midfielder) – 7.5 million
Chelsea plays a favourable fixture in GW18 against Nottingham Forest, who has conceded the second-most goals (33) and expected goals (27.1) in the league. They also have a double gameweek in GW19 against Manchester City and Fulham and are only 1 of 2 teams that have this DGW.
It feels like it is important to target Chelsea assets, but they have generally been avoided due to inconsistency this season. However, their low ownership means they could turn out to be good differentials, such as Mason Mount, for example.
In GW17, he scored 10 points, including a goal and 2 bonus points, and has been a key player for Chelsea this season, scoring the most points of any player at the club (63). He has started all but one game this season and has made 3 goals and 2 assists, the joint-most goal contributions at the club.
Mount has also created the most chances of any Chelsea player (21), making him a player with both goal threat and creative potential. Given that his ownership of 7.1% Mount could be a valuable differential ahead of GW18.
4. Bruno Fernandes (Midfielder) – 9.8 million
Manchester United recently won an impressive 3-0 against Nottingham Forest in GW17 despite the departure of their main striker Cristiano Ronaldo. They also have favourable fixtures against Wolves and Bournemouth in the upcoming gameweeks.
Bruno Fernandes is expected to return to penalty duties, which could boost his scoring potential. He has created the most chances (36) and the most big chances (10) out of any United player and ranks highly in the league for both statistics with the 4th most chances and the 2nd most big chances.
Fernandes also has the 3rd best-expected assists total in the league (3.5), suggesting that he is due to add to his single assist this season. He has also had the second-most touches in the opposition penalty area out of his teammates (42), further highlighting his attacking threat. Given his ownership of just 3.4%, Fernandes could be a valuable differential for managers for the next couple of gameweeks.
5. Eddie Nketiah (Forward) – 6.5 million
With Gabriel Jesus injured for 2-3 months, Nketiah is likely to start as the main striker for Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta has spoken about his confidence in Nketiah and the forward scored in GW17 against West Ham as well.
Last season, Nketiah was Arsenal’s main striker for a period, scoring 5 times in 8 starts. He also has the most shots per 90 (4.7) and the most shots on target per 90 (1.6) out of his teammates. Despite limited playing time this season, Nketiah tends to perform well and with energy whenever he is given time as a substitute.
Nketiah’s ownership is just 2.3%, making him a potential differential for managers looking to climb ranks. While Arsenal has tough fixtures against Brighton and Newcastle in the upcoming gameweeks, the team has been in good form this season and is expected to perform well.
