Best Captaincy Choices for FIFA World Cup 2022 Fantasy Matchday 3

Since FIFA World Cup’s Captaincy change rule is just like UCL Fantasy, you may change your captain after each day’s play. However, you can only give the captaincy to someone whose team hasn’t played yet, in such an instance. The top Captaincy choices for the upcoming matchday are as follows:

1. Lionel Messi – 10.5 million

Someone who delivers in the World Cup for his country every time he is asked to. Lionel Messi did deliver against the Mexicans with a goal and an assist. Currently, he is having 16 points across 2 matchdays. For Argentina to qualify for the knockouts, it would be very much necessary to beat Poland well and good and dependency would be on Lionel Messi, for obvious reasons.

Messi as a playmaker has had 2.7 key passes per game in the Ligue 1 so far, helping to get 10 assists there. Also, he has had 7 goals in the domestic league while taking 4.3 shots per game.

2. Mehdi Taremi – 7.0 million

The Iran frontman has been in form in the tournament so far. With 2 goals and 1 assist, he is equal to Messi in the fantasy points tally. Also, with only 1.2% ownership, he must also be a decent cheap beast or a differential option.

He has had 3.70 shots per-game ratio for his so far this season and has had 18 goal contributions for Porto. For Iran to qualify for the knockouts, winning against the United States would be a must, and the same fact would be true for the reverse case. No matter what, this contest would be worth a watch for many obvious reasons.

3. Jamal Musiala – 8.0 million

Something Germany would look for on the final day is quality football. They absolutely need to win against Costa Rica if they want to have any chance to qualify for the knockouts. In such an instance, Bayern’s Jamal Musiala can be expected to shine against the Central American nation. Musiala has been Bayern’s top scorer so far this season in the Bundesliga, with 9 goals.

Not only that, but he is also their top assists provider in the league with 12 assists. His goal involvement equates to 1.35 per 90 minutes. His Non-Penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.57. This puts Musiala’s npxG output at 6.38 which puts him in the top 98 percentile of Bundesliga players.

4. Mohammed Kudus (MID) – 6.0 million

The Ajax teen is currently under the radar of several top European clubs for obvious reasons. He contributed in both the games, against Portugal, and two splendid goals against South Korea to keep Ghana in the race for the knockout stage. For 6m, he is decently priced, and being a Midfielder in the game, he gets more points for a goal than a Forward.

With 0.7 xG per 90, Kudus would look to give his best against Uruguay to take Ghana to the next round, beyond all expectations. His current form makes him a strong contender for the captaincy, especially after his goals against South Korea.

5. Cody Gakpo – 7.0 million

The Netherlands needs to win against Qatar. Everything seemed so smooth for them except the Ecuador game. The draw against the South Americans was a setback for sure and now a win against Qatar is a must. The PSV teenager, with a lot of promise, might be their main man up ahead this week too, especially considering his club form, which has 12 goals and 15 assists so far in 19 games.

Also, with 4.2% ownership, he might also be a decent differential captain choice for any fantasy team. Remember that Gakpo scored in the 1-1 draw against Ecuador and is guaranteed to start. Hence he would be a very good choice too.

Final Thoughts

Hope the suggestions help you in choosing your captains for the upcoming matchday. Don’t forget that you may change your captains but only once, in case your choices couldn’t deliver.
