We might not get a new Uncharted game from Naughty Dog as studio’s co-president states that they are “done” with the story they wanted to tell and are “moving on.”
In a recent interview with Buzzfeed, Neil Druckmann talked about The Last Of Us, its upcoming multiplayer game, and the possibility of The Last Of Us Part 3 as well as discussed Uncharted and confirmed that the studio will not follow up Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
The Last Of Us Part 3 is also not confirmed yet
While talking about the future games from the studio Druckmann said ” at Naughty Dog we’re very, very privileged that our publisher is Sony, which means Sony funds our games, supports us, and we’re owned by Sony.
They have supported us every step of the way to follow our passions, meaning that just because something is successful, people think there’s all this pressure and we have to make a sequel. That’s not the case. For us, Uncharted was insanely successful, Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games and we’re able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done. We’re moving on.”
Druckmann told that he’s open to another installment in The Last Of Us Series if they can come up with a “compelling story that has a universal message and statement about love.” He said that they don’t want to develop sequels just because they would be commercially successful until they have a story to tell.
The next game from Naughty Dog would be The Last Of Us Factions. Factions would be a multiplayer experience set in The Last Of Us Universe where players will be able to experience a new story, with new characters and it will take place in a new city. So far not much information has been revealed about this game other than its setting and the fact that it will be a standalone game.
