Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom rumored to be Nintendo’s first $70 title

Another publisher follows the trend

It has been anticipated for a long that some of the most popular games will cost $70. Many studios have started charging $70 for their AAA games since last year and now it has become so commonplace that most of the big-budget titles now have a slight price premium. Xbox revealed in late 2022 that it will follow Sony in the future and charge $70 for its greatest games, and it now appears that Nintendo is doing the same.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be arguably Nintendo’s biggest game release this year and if the leaked pricing is to be believed, the title will cost $70 instead of the usual $60 for Nintendo Switch games.

More gameplay of the next Zelda to be shown at Nintendo Direct

it was discovered that the game’s listing on the eShop was updated to have a price of $69.99. About an hour later, the price mysteriously vanished and was replaced by “releasing in 2023”. It’s likely that, because the physical version was still $59.99 at retailers, it was merely an error of some kind on Nintendo’s part.

Many retailers like GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon have halted pre-orders of the physical edition of the game a few hours after the leak. This could mean that the price change might not be a mistake and the game will be $10 costlier.

Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of the Kingdom will be the next game in the iconic Legend Of Zelda franchise after 5 years. Tears of the Kingdom will release on 12 May 2023 for Nintendo Switch.
