Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty to be CDPR’s biggest budget DLC ever

Cyberpunk 2077‘s upcoming story DLC will be the biggest post game launch by CD Projekt Red, in terms of budget. According to a talk between a CDPR representative and polish publication Parkiet, Phantom Liberty, the upcoming story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will be the biggest expansion for the studio, budget-wise. This will likely surpass Blood and Wine which was an expansion for the beloved The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Phantom Liberty Will feature Idris Elba

A trailer was released showcasing the DLC at last year’s Game Awards which revealed that it will be introducing “Idris Elba as Solomon Reed, an FIA Agent for the New United States of America. Team up and take on an impossible mission of espionage & survival.” Keanu Reeves will also reprise his role as Johnny Silverhand.

This was further emphasized by community director Marcin Morton on the game’s Reddit  – “This is about the biggest budget when it comes to expansion packs we’ve released” – and then again by global PR director Radek Grabowski, who tweeted to confirm the team meant that it was the biggest DLC by budget, that does not mean it will be the biggest in scope or content.

From these statements, we can safely assume that Phantom Liberty will be shorter and more concise than The Witcher 3 ‘s Blood and Wine DLC, which took around 20 hours to play through the main quests along with some side quests.

The exact release date for the DLC hasn’t been announced yet by CDPR, but according to a report by wccftech, a CDPR representative said “the work is going according to plan. – Yes, we feel comfortable with the current state of work on the add-on .” Phantom Liberty will be the one and only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.

Phantom Liberty will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The expansion will not release on previous-gen consoles such as Xbox One and PS4, where the game did not perform well and had to be refunded by Sony and Microsoft. However, after a bunch of updates, the game is now in good state and is being enjoyed by players globally.
