The wait is finally over. Starting today on the 22nd of August, 2022, everyone can swim again in the sea of the most popular fantasy tv series, Game of Thrones with House of the Dragon. Although the ending of the series is disappointing, there are some reasons that can engross us in the prequel series of Game of Thrones named the House of Dragon, based on Fire and Blood, written by George R.R. Martin.

The storyline evolves around two hundred years, before the events of Game of Thrones, which is the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. The events involve leading up to and covering the Targaryen War of succession, known as the “Dance of the Dragons”.

House of the Dragon: 5 reasons to look out for

1. George R.R. Martin factor

Game of Thrones, the TV series is based on the book of the series, A Song of Ice and Fire, written by George R.R. Martin. But, he is not a part of the team of creators who created the earlier TV series. George R.R. Martin has not completed that series yet.

But the creators wanted to work on a shorter timeline, thus completing the web series on their own. As a result of it, the ending of that TV series is not up to the mark. But, here, we have some good news, as we have George as one of the creators of the House of the dragon. We can expect a proper ending this time!

2. Miguel Sapochnik Factor

Miguel directed one of the best and most iconic episodes of the series, “The Battle of Bastards”, according to the critics. He has also won Emmy Awards for that episode.

He was selected as the showrunner of House of the Dragon. He has directed the first episode and additionally, two episodes of the TV series. This creates the possibility of making good content.

3. Music is coming from the original GoT music producer

Ramin Djawadi is composing the music of House of the Dragon. He is known for composing the hit and iconic music for the sequel HBO series Game of Thrones and a number of Marvel films, such as Blade: Trinity, Iron Man, and Eternals.

4. Plenty of dragons

House of the Dragon will have plenty of dragons that will be fighting on behalf of their masters. As reported, there will be nine dragons in Season 1 alone. This is a piece of good news for people who want to see some giant dragon battles being fought out.

5. Fight against patriarchy

In Game of Thrones, we have seen some iconic female leaders who have either fought for the throne or taken an active part in politics. Stars Milly Alcock and Emily Carey have shared some details about House of the Dragon, the highly-anticipated period drama in a recent interview, elaborating on how the prequel will give viewers an insight into the traditional Westeros patriarchy through the lead characters of Rhaenyra and Alicent. Carey said, “I think part of the key for Alicent is she doesn’t fight back. I think she doesn’t know how to, and I think parts of her don’t want to, until she’s there. Then, maybe she regrets certain decisions and certain choices. But I think she doesn’t have the power to fight back, mainly because she is a child when we find her.”

Alcock added, “I think, ultimately, it’s down to the writing. And what the show leans on is how these two women are met with the same kind of patriarchy, but they react in entirely different ways. Because of their given circumstances, and because of who they are, and the privileges that they’ve been afforded within their lives.”
